
PGL announces event in Łódź for March 2027
PGL has officially announced their return to Poland, a decade after the PGL Krakow 2017 Major, with PGL announcing that they will hold an event in the Polish city of Łódź in March 2027. PGL Łódź is billed as a Tier-1 Counter-Strike 2 event and will be held between March 18 - March 28, 2027 with a prize pool of $1,000,000 up for grabs.
The announcement was made ahead of the PGL Astana 2026 final between Spirit and Falcons where donk powered Spirit to back-to-back Astana titles with a clean 3-0 sweep from Spirit. The PGL Łódź event, like all PGL events since 2025, will be a fully-LAN event while there will be Open and Closed Qualifiers for the event as well as announced by PGL.
The main event will have 16 teams, with 14 being directly invited from the Global VRS starting from #1 based on the December 7, 2026 rankings. The remaining two teams will come from the European Qualifiers, with the European Qualifiers following a Open qualifier moving into Closed Qualifier set-up.
For the Open Qualifiers, which will be held online and between January 4 - January 7, 2027, it will follow an open registrations format being first-come, first-served. The format will a single elimination BO1 format with the games from the quarter-final onwards moving to BO3s. The top 2 teams will move to the Closed Qualifier where they will be joined by six more directly invited teams from the Europe VRS. The top two teams will qualify for the main event from the European Closed Qualifier which will also be held online.
Amongst the other rules and regulations laid out by PGL, in their 'Integrity and Conduct' section, PGL has stated that any team which 'withdraws from a PGL event, regardless of the timing of the withdrawal or the surrounding circumstances, is subject to a disqualification from receiving a Direct VRS Invite to the subsequent PGL event.'
PGL additionally revealed that their third tournament of 2028 will take place between March 23 - April 2, 2028 with further details to be revealed soon.
