FlyQuest fight past SINNERS in Cologne Major opener
FlyQuest have started their IEM Cologne Major 2026 campaign with a win over SINNERS in their opening BO1 game with the Australian team getting over the line in overtime. It wasn't the cleanest Counter-Strike from FlyQuest as the rust was shown but jks and co. managed to get the win which now puts them in the 1-0 bracket.
Ancient was the playground for FlyQuest as they started their Cologne Major campaign against SINNERS in the Stage 1 BO1 matchup. A quick A hit through Donut helped FlyQuest pick up the T pistol. jks and Vexite's MAC-10s saw off a force attempt from SINNERS and FlyQuest converted a B split 3v4 as a story 1v2 saw FlyQuest pick up the first gun round as well. After four in a row, FlyQuest dropped a round to only pistols as the Australian squad were unable to see off nothing but the sidearms from SINNERS, which put the latter on the board. Four in a row from SINNERS saw them bring it to a one-round game before FlyQuest closed the half with a clean B hit to go 7-5 up at the break.
A triple from kisserek helped SINNERS convert the T pistol and conversions against the eco and force saw SINNERS go 8-7 up before story's AWP saw FlyQuest lock in the first gun round. FlyQuest put up a couple rounds together to hit double digits before a beastik quad kill saw SINNERS convert an unlikely 2v4. beastik's heroics not only got SINNERS back on the board but also managed to break FlyQuest's economy in the long run which saw SINNERS go on to take the lead of the map at 11-10. story and Vexite held on in the A site to keep FlyQuest afloat and a big round from story and INS in the final round of regulation saw FlyQuest push Ancient to overtime. FlyQuest managed to hold on in overtime seeing off SHOCK's heroics to snatch a 16-14 win.
