ESL Challenger League Season 50 Asia-Pacific Cup 2 Day 2: Recap

The second day at the ESL Challenger League Season 50 Asia-Pacific Cup 2 saw another 8 BO3s take place with Indian team True Thunder exiting in last place while PokemoN's Legion fought valiantly. The second day saw a couple teams head home while a couple moved closer to the grand final.

Rare Atom move ahead; True Thunder forfeit

Rare Atom moved into the upper bracket semi-finals after a convincing 2-0 win over compatriots, FengDa after a 13-8 win on Ancient and a 13-10 win on Dust2 to close the series. In the lower bracket, Bhavi's True Thunder forfeited their game as a result of clash with the ESEA S54 Playoffs, which resulted in them being knocked out of the event, seeing NomadS fight on.

BORING PLAYERS and UR stay alive

The other lower bracket games saw another Chinese derby, this time between BORING PLAYERS and Kaleido. A strong T side on Ancient helped BORING PLAYERS start with a 13-7 win on their map pick before holding on for a 13-10 win on Inferno to close the series and keep their campaign going.

On the other side, Iran's ScarX took on UR and UR ran through the Iranian team, picking up two bigs win, a 13-6 win Mirage and a 13-2 win on Dust2 to eliminate ScarX.

IHC hold on while The Huns stunned

IHC face MAXXPOWER in their elimination and the Mongolian team went down 8-13 on MAXXPOWER's pick of Dust2 before answering back in style with a 13-2 win on Nuke and going on to complete the reverse sweep in a tight decider on Mirage, that went all the way, seeing IHC hold on for a 13-11 win.

The Huns on the other hand, took on Chinese squad Last Bullet in the upper bracket quarter-final and The Huns were unable to put up a defensive hold on Mirage, where they lost 7-13. A flawless CT half on their pick of Nuke helped them steal at 13-6 win to tie up the series but The Mongolian team was unable to complete the reverse sweep, going down 11-13 on Inferno to drop to the lower bracket.

Legion go down fighting; Chinggis Warriors move into semis

The final two games of the day were the upper bracket quarter-finals were Pakistani team Legion taking on Eruption. After being wiped 4-13 on Eruption's pick of Mirage, a flawless T side on Dust2 with PokemoN standing out saw Legion tie up the series with a 13-6 win. Despite being 2-10 down on the decider on Overpass, Legion fought till the last round but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 8-13 to drop the series 1-2.

Chinggis Warriors had to see off Chinese team Just Swing in an intense overtime filled affair which saw Chinggis Warriors start with a 19-16 win on Just Swing's pick of Mirage before Just Swing answered back with a 16-13 win on Nuke. The decider on Ancient saw Just Swing once again threaten overtime but Chinggis Warriors held on for a 13-9 win to move into the semi-finals.
