The MongolZ go down fighting to Spirit
The MongolZ have suffered their first loss in Astana after going down in a close match against Spirit in their 1-0 bracket game at PGL Astana 2026. After being unable to make a spirited comeback stick on the opening map, The MongolZ put in clutch after clutch to stay alive on Ancient but it was donk as the difference as the Spirit star eventually shut out The MongolZ.
sh1ro's Triple on the P250 saw Spirit convert a B hit to start their pick of Dust2 and with little to no resistance from The MongolZ, they went 9-3 up on the back of a dominant T side. mzinho's impactful second half pistol saw The MongolZ fight back with a much needed pistol win and it was 910 and mzinho making the comeback work for The MongolZ including a big 1v3 from 910 that helped them eventually tie up the score at 10-10. A couple of back and forth rounds to close out the half saw multi-kills from donk late in the piece help Spirit edge out a 13-11 win.

donk kicked off Ancient with a quad kill to hand Spirit the CT pistol and they started with six on the trot before openers from bLitz and cobrazera saw The MongolZ convert a B execute to get on the board. B hits with multi-kills from mzinho and bLitz saw The MongolZ manage a couple of more rounds but it was Spirit with the advantage as they went 8-4 up.
910 and mzinho retook on the B site to hand The MongolZ their CT pistol on their map pick and hung on against a scary force buy to retake on the A site and bring it to a two-round game. magixx's Tec-9 opened the A site on an upgraded pistol buy and a sh1ro 1v2 saw Spirit get their ninth as The MongolZ imploded on what should've been a clean retake against pistols. The MongolZ though, didn't let the loss to the pistols hamper them as mzinho and 910 kept The MongolZ alive in the half as five in a row saw them take the lead of the map at 11-10.

Aggression in middle that worked for them to make the comeback work saw donk and tN1R counter it as a spray from both saw Spirit tie up the score but it was cobrazera's second AWP that helped The MongolZ hit map point but they were unable to convert it as donk single handedly pushed Spirit to overtime with another mow down at middle.
Spirit started with a flawless T side but it was a 1v3 from cobrazera, a 1v1 from Techno and a 1v2 from 910 pushing The MongolZ into double overtime. donk's 41 kill show eventually was enough as Spirit got things done in double overtime with a 19-16 win to close out a 2-0 series win.
The loss sees The MongolZ fall to the 1-1 bracket while Spirit are now one win away from making Playoffs after moving into the 2-0 bracket at PGL Astana 2026.
