IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 1 Day 3: Recap

The penultimate day's action in Stage 1 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 is done as three teams qualified for the next Stage while three headed home. The likes of GamerLegion and M80 made their way to Stage 2 while HEROIC was the big name heading home. For the Asia-Pacific teams, most of them are in the 2-2 pool and will fight for survival on the last day of Stage 1.

BRACKET 1-2

The elimination games kicked off the action with the Australian derby between FlyQuest and THUNDER dOWNUNDER. THUNDER dOWUNDER showed some fight on Anubis but that was all they could manage as FlyQuest sent them packing with a comfortable 2-0 win to stay alive in the Major. TYLOO made it hard for themselves but going missing on the opening map of their 1-2 bracket game but a reverse sweep from the Chinese squad with JamYoung starring saw TYLOO move into the 2-2 bracket.

The final game of the day saw HEROIC and Liquid fight for Major survival and after a commanding Nuke win, a scrappy and messy Inferno saw Liquid eliminate HEROIC.

BRACKET 2-1

The qualification games saw GamerLegion edge out BIG in a closely fought encounter to qualify for Stage 2 and drop BIG to the 2-2 bracket while MIBR smashed Lynn Vision to sail into the next Stage. The final qualification game had M80 take on NRG and M80 managed to keep it clean to move to Stage 2 while sending nitr0 and his boys to the final day brawl bracket.
