PGL to host a Tier 1 event in China in 2027
For the first time, PGL will head to China with a Tier 1 Counter-Strike event next year. PGL had blocked dates towards the middle of April 2027 in the event calendar for a Tier 1 event and PGL have revealed its location today. PGL's Chinese Counter-Strike event will carry a prize pool of $1,000,000 USD alongside an additional $300,000 USD VRS invite bonus.
The event will run entirely on LAN after the online qualifiers and these online qualifiers will take place a few weeks before the main event. The Asian open qualifiers will take place between 27th and 30th January 2027, hosting a single-elimination bracket to pick two teams from each sub-region. The three sub-regions- East Asia, West Asia and Oceania will host separate closed qualifiers to send the winner into the Asian closed qualifier.
The winner of the Asian closed qualifier makes it to the main event. The main event will accommodate a total of sixteen teams with invites going on according to January 2027's VRS update. The format of the main event is yet to be announced.
PGL's 2027 is set to start in Bucharest in January before heading to Cluj-Napoca and Lodz in the following months, after which PGL's Chinese event will take place in April. Here's what we know about PGL's fourth event in 2027 so far:
