The MongolZ on the board in Cologne
The MongolZ have picked up their first win at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 in Stage 3 after locking in a 2-0 win against B8 in their 0-1 bracket game. After almost fumbling a massive lead on Mirage, it was a clean close to the series from The MongolZ that saw them put up their first win at the Cologne Major and now moves into the 1-1 bracket.
It was a hot start from The MongolZ on their opponent's pick of Mirage as B8's flat T side put The MongolZ on a 7-0 start before a mixed buy with Tec-9, Deagles and AKs saw B8 get on the board with a quick A hit. That and one late mid split to A was all B8 found on a lacklustre T side as The MongolZ went 10-2 up in the first half of B8's map pick with 910 ending the half with 17 kills.
esenthial and kensizor gave B8 a CT pistol but losing the opening gun round with 910 coming in with a big 1v1 against esenthial saw The MongolZ go 11-4 up. The MongolZ found only one round post that saw B8 pulled off an incredible comeback to head to overtime with s1zzi stepping up for B8. In overtime it was 910 doing the heavy lifting for The MongolZ as his 29 kill show dragged The MongolZ over the line at 16-14.
The MongolZ kicked off their pick of Overpass with the T pistol and were up 4-0 in no time before npl and kensizor's doubles saw B8 get on the board. It was another strong start from The MongolZ as barring a s1zzi multi-kill round post the first round from B8 there was no stopping a slow paced T side from The MongolZ as they went 9-3.
cobrazera's quad on an A hold saw The MongolZ lock in both pistols on their map pick and after the conversions, it was cobrazera winning a 1v3 to time as B8 delayed their execute on the B site for far to long to see The MongolZ hit map point. The MongolZ wasted no time in closing out the series as a 13-3 win saw them wrap the series 2-0. The win puts The MongolZ in the 1-1 bracket at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3 while B8 falls into elimination zone and are one BO3 loss away from being eliminated as they sit in the 0-2 bracket.
