FACEIT to extend ban durations

Ban policies to change next month

FACEIT has just announced a policy update for Season 9 and its a significant one. "Bans are getting longer for cheating, smurfing, stream sniping, and repeated or targeted abuse", said FACEIT as they announced extensions on numerous offenses.

Here's what will change when Season 9 begins:

FACEIT has also shared their intent to review reports against chat abuse and toxicity with more context to hand out clearer judgements. FACEIT will also take into account the player's history while reviewing toxicity reports meaning which, a player with a one off outburst is likely to get away with a warning while a repeat offender would most definitely receive a ban.

Previously, stream sniping and smurfing were handed 30-day bans but with the beginning of Season 9, these offenses are treated much more seriously, scaling up to permanent bans starting from six and three months respectively. Trash talk and harmless banter will receive clean chits while abusive banter could receive a minimum ban of three days.

Racist, homophobic, sexist slurs, etc. will continue to attract bans of seven days or more depending on the severity. Cheating carried a two-year ban previously but with the beginning of Season 9, cheating will attract a ban of five years and two more for every evasion attempt, escalating to permanent in some cases.
