SemperFi fight back to keep ESL Pro League Season 22 dreams alive
SemperFi made sure they weren't done just about yet at the ESL Pro League Season 22 Asia Closed Qualifier as the Australian team fought tooth and nail to keep their hopes of making it to ESL Pro League Season 22 alive. aliStair and co. reverse swept UnsettledResentment (UR) out of the qualifiers in their lower bracket semi-final encounter.
The Chinese team's map pick of Ancient kicked off the series with the pistol win seeing UR go on a five-round streak before SemperFi could get their first round. Two CT rounds were all that SemperFi could manage on their defensive side and despite picking up the second pistol and conversion, that was all for them on Ancient as UR eased to a 13-4 win. A keen quad kill in the pistol round that saw SemperFi turn around a 2v5 set the tone for a strong T side as they took a big 10-2 lead at the break with Shadiy and Savage's multi-kill rounds helping them dominate on the T side of their pick.
UR evened out the pistols on Inferno and picked up a clean conversion but one M4A1-S on the B site with upgraded pistols got SemperFi's second half and their CT half going. A keen smoke push resulting in a double helped SemperFi close Inferno at 13-6 and tie up the series. Mirage was a back and forth affair as despite an early lead from the Australian team early on, UR fought back late to tie up the score at the half. A trade of rounds kicked off the second half as well before a couple of crucial multi-kill rounds from Valiance at the end saw SemperFi find late momentum secure a 13-10 win to reverse sweep the series 2-1.
The win makes sure SemperFi keeps their lower bracket run going as they now move into the lower bracket final while for UR it is the end of the road. SemperFi will take on the winner of the IHC-NomadS game in the lower bracket final, with the match set to take place later on today.
