CS2 devs hint at new Armory Pass content

Valve tries to address external scripting issue

In a small update earlier today, Valve announced that it was the last chance for players to buy certain stuff from the Armory Pass like the Gallery Case, skins from the Graphic Collection and Character Craft stickers. The announcements hints at a possible content influx in the near future. Whether this content would arrive within the Armory Pass or as a separate module is yet to be revealed. On the other hand, some of the players suspect that Valve are cooking up a big update for Counter-Strike 2's second year anniversary.

The input and movement in Counter-Strike 2 has been a vastly discussed and studied topic ever since the game came out in beta. Valve have been hard at work, fiddling things up to make the game's mechanics feel as smooth as its predecessor, Global Offensive. A lot is left to be desired still, but on the other hand, these changes have often broken certain functions, allowing users to exploit them in official game servers. exec_async, the command that Valve dealt with in this update would reportedly allow users to write scripts that would continue executing inside matchmaking servers, opening up the potential to create auto-recoil scripts, auto bunny-hop scripts and a lot more.

However users have already reported a new irregularity, causing the server to ignore certain inputs when the player view-angles generate extra sub-tick updates. Bunny-hopping for instance has become unreliable at high FPS when strafing.

Here are Valve's release notes:

MISC

  • Fixed an issue that would allow exec_async to continue executing in cheat protected servers resulting in random user input dropout.

  • Last chance to pick up the Gallery Case, Graphic Collection, and Character Craft stickers from The Armory.
