The MongolZ hang on in lower bracket; TYLOO sent home after Falcons thrashing
It has been a mixed day for the Asian teams at the ongoing BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 as The MongolZ fought on in the lower bracket while TYLOO exited the tournament after a 1-2 loss to Falcons. The MongolZ beat Liquid in a hard-fought 2-0 win to make the lower bracket final and needs one more win to make the Playoffs.
The MongolZ faced Liquid in their Group B lower bracket semi-final with Liquid's pick of Ancient starting the series. A strong defensive hold from The MongolZ saw them go 8-4 up before Liquid pulled things back on their CT side and a six-round streak meant overtime was needed where The MongolZ held on for a 16-14 win despite EliGE's 32 kill performance as a late bLitz clutched helped The MongolZ find momentum.
Mirage saw The MongolZ start with four on the trot and were on way to a big half before impact from malbsMd and EliGE saw Liquid tie up the score at the half. Liquid, though, fell flat on their T side and big clutches from The MongolZ with mzinho having a strong half saw them run away with a 13-10 win to close the series in two and move ahead into the Group B lower bracket.
The win against Liquid has put The MongolZ into the lower bracket final and they await the winner of the Spirit - 9z game to determine their opponents in the lower bracket final for a spot in the Playoffs on the line.
While The MongolZ celebrated a much-needed win in the event, the other Asian team in the event, TYLOO had a rough outing against Falcons. The JamYoung show had seen TYLOO steal a 16-14 win on the Chinese team's pick of Inferno to kick off their series in the group A lower bracket semi-final but after that opening map win, Falcons showed no mercy to TYLOO. With NiKo, kyosuke and kyxsan having stellar performance, Falcons reverse swept the series with a 13-1 and 13-2 win on Ancient and Mirage to send TYLOO packing from BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026.
