Over 10,000 accounts banned on FACEIT today

Season 8 will conclude in a couple of weeks

FACEIT's Season 8 is slowly coming to a close with just a couple of weeks remaining and the platform is already gearing up for the next season. Earlier today, FACEIT announced that 12,478 accounts were banned for smurfing and multi-account abuse "using new detection methods that now run automatically."

The ban wave comes after FACEIT revised their ban policies recently, extending durations for nearly all offenses. Previously, smurfing carried a 30-day ban with the new policy, smurfing attracts a minimum ban duration of 3 months which can scale up to become a permanent ban.

The platform also announced that over 20 million Elo will be restored to players who who conceded matches against those who were banned. While some lauded FACEIT for carrying out regular ban waves, others pointed out how cheating in FACEIT is still on the rise, despite growing security requirements like TPM and secure boot.

FACEIT's Season 8 will come to a close on 4th August 2026 with the next season starting on 5th August. The new season will come with a reworked soft Elo reset.
