StarLadder faces backlash over Budapest MRQ scheduling

MRQ clashes with several big tournaments

The announcement of the dates of the Major Regional Qualifiers of the second major of the year - StarLadder Budapest 2025 Major has brought several scheduling conflicts with itself.

The MRQs are scheduled to run from October 16th-19th, and will overlap with several big events:

  • MESA Nomadic Masters Fall (15th-19th October)

  • CS Asia Championships (14th–19th October)

  • Thunderpick World Championship (15th-19th October)

  • Roobet Cup (13th-22nd)

These tournaments also boast a significant prize pool, Nomadic Masters featuring $250k, CAC and Roobet Cup featuring $1 million, while Thunderpick World Championship also having a prize pool of $850k to fight for.

Several Counter-Strike pundits voiced frustration over StarLadder’s scheduling,, with caster Trav expecting other TOs to reschedule, while Complexity's GM messioso calling it "absolute shitshow scheduling".

Apart from this, the MRQs being online yet again was also another concern raised by fans and pros alike. GamerLegion's head-coach ash talked about the integrity issues caused by online games. Five-times Major winner Dupreeh also highlighted the importance of having a LAN environment for the stepping stones of a Major.
