Bhavi after losing to BIG: "We were not able to adapt during mid-rounds"
Despite a good look on the first map of Overpass against BIG, Bhavi's boys were not able to close out the map. The loss ended up costing Arise the series, as their own map pick Inferno also betrayed them, as they ended up going down without putting up much of a fight.
In the post match-interview with Bhavi, the IGL of the Indian team, talks about the team's performance, and the mistakes made that costed them the game.
A tough loss Bhavi. Tell me about Overpass, because you had a very good CT-side, but couldn't close out the map.
I think we played well on Overpass, we were very proactive on the CT. But we were not able to adapt mid-game. One good thing was that we were able to step up individually on the CT-side. Benzene, clouda had some good rounds. On the T-side, we messed up on the important pistol round. We also forgot about our set piece in a few rounds. I think we were also playing very scared, and not taking fights like we were on the CT-side.
Tell me about your map pick Inferno. You lost a lot of close rounds on the T-side.
I think on Inferno T-side also we were not playing well individually. We were not handling the pressure well. We were taking a lot of fights and not helping each other out, not executing contact plays properly. In after plant chaos also, we also made a lot of mistakes. We could have done better on the late and mid rounds of the T-side.
Obviously after playing a team like BIG, there has to be some takeaways despite the loss. What were you able to learn from this game?
I think what JDC said was right. We were trying follow the meta. But we were not able to adapt during mid-rounds. This is what we learned from the game. We should adapt better individually based on the information we get.
