Passion UA pulls off massive upset over The MongolZ
BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2 has kicked off in Hong Kong and The MongolZ took on Passion UA in the opener. Right out the gate on Overpass, The MongoLZ dominated on the CT-side, flying off to a 6-1 start. Passion UA's JT and Kvem stepped up towards the end of the half, salvaging a 5-7 half. Switching over, The MongolZ looked shaky on the T-side but nevertheless secured match point at 12-8. Passion UA put four on the trot to drag Overpass into overtime.
The MongolZ snatched a narrow 16-14 win to take a map lead in the Bo3 but the job was far from done. A strong T-side showing from 910 and controlez set The MongolZ up with an 8-4 half on Inferno as they stood five rounds away from closing the series. Kvem went ballistic in the second half, with a 1.71 T-side rating, levelling the score at 10-10. Passion UA, stole a 13-11 win, as The MongolZ fumbled a big lead.
The decider took us to Nuke where once again The MongolZ started strong with a 3-0 on the T-side but Passion UA, did not let things get out of hand this time around, fending off The MognolZ aggression with a solid CT-defense, securing a 7-5 half in their favor. With pistol, anti-eco and bonus conversions, The MongolZ were poised to take the win, but ran out of steam towards the end as 100+ ADR showings from hallzerk and Kvem fetched Passion UA a 13-11 win, pulling off a massive upset to kick off BLAST Rivals Hong Kong.
The MongolZ will have a stern lower bracket match where they either face Falcons or Spirit with their backs against elimination.
