IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 2 Day 1: Recap

The first day at Stage 2 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 had plenty of action as some big names finished the opening day on the brink of elimination while some usual suspects breezed their way to the 2-0 bracket. There are only two teams from the Asia-Pacific region in Stage 2, with TYLOO and FlyQuest having a mixed outing. TYLOO managed to keep themselves afloat with a win to start their Stage 2 campaign while FlyQuest are on the brink of elimination after back-to-back BO1 losses.

If you missed the action from day 1 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 2, here's a quick recap of the results.

Round 1

The opening round of games saw FlyQuest and 9z and Astralis and GamerLegion kick off Stage 2 with FlyQuest going down to the South American squad while Astralis dominated GamerLegion. FUT edged out B8 while TYLOO, G2, Monte and Spirit picked up convincing wins in their BO1 opening games as well. The Brazilian derby between MIBR and Legacy saw MIBR come out on top to round out the opening round games.

Round 2

The second round of games kicked off with TYLOO up against FUT with FUT picking up a win to move into the 2-0 bracket. 9z smashed Astralis to join FUT in the 2-0 bracket while G2 was another 2-0 bracket entree after an overtime affair against Monte. BIG made sure to put up their first win in Stage 2 against paiN, while FlyQuest fell to the Legacy to drop to the 0-2 bracket. GamerLegion was a surprise name in the 0-2 bracket with B8 as they two teams lost their second round BO1s to BetBoom and M80 respectively. The final game of the day saw Spirit miss out on a 13-0 due to a Tec-9 round loss with donk and co. rolling over MIBR 13-1 to move one win away from the next stage.
